Experience Oslo

In addition to concerts we also offer various other ways to experience Oslo, its history and opportunities.

Last updated: March 6, 2026

During the festival week there are many other things going on apart from just concerts. Maybe you want a change of scenery and see some of the Oslo area and cultural heritage?

We can offer things like black metal sightseeing tours, guided Munch tours, art exhibitions, skiing, hiking and more.

Inferno Art Exhibition

When we listen to the music and read the lyrics, we picture it in our heads and wish we could visualise it. Luckily we have artists among us who do this for us. I hope that the artists we have found for the 2026 edition of the Inferno Art Exhibition will fulfil these expectations – they definitely do that for me, and I can't wait to get my hands on some of these artworks.

Some of the artists you already know, and we are super excited to present new artists for you as well. As in previous years, the Art Exhibition will be held at The Hub, and this is a great opportunity to bring home some art as a festival souvenir, since the artists will have lots of work for sale.

The Art Exhibition is open to everyone – not only festival attendees, but EVERYONE. You just have to enter The Hub, pass the reception and the lifts, and you will find our exhibition room in the conference area.

Entrance is free, and the opening hours will be 11:00-16:00. There will also be art for sale at Rockefeller, but that is limited to festival attendees. See you there!

Black Metal Sightseeing

Join us on a tour of the places that marked the beginning of the legend of Norwegian black metal with Anders Odden as your guide.

The myths surrounding the early history of Norwegian black metal are numerous. Countless documentaries, films, and books have tried to uncover what happened in Norway in the early ‘90s. Visiting the locations where these events took place, guided by someone who was there, makes this a truly personal journey.

Through his record store, Helvete, and his band, Mayhem, Øystein Aarseth – better known as Euronymous – became a central figure in the scene. He inspired and promoted early Norwegian metal bands such as Emperor, Darkthrone, Immortal, Burzum, and others. On August 10, 1993, after a year of turmoil in the underground scene of Oslo and Bergen, Euronymous was killed in his apartment by Varg Vikernes, also known as “Greven”, the notorious leader of Burzum. This event marked both the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. The once so obscure black metal scene quickly became infamous, grabbing tabloid headlines in Norway and the rest of the world.

This excursion will feature exclusive anecdotes and personal memories from someone who experienced those formative years firsthand, Anders Odden (Cadaver, Order etc.).

Anders Odden formed his first black metal band, Slaught, in 1986 after attending a Mayhem rehearsal at the age of 14. A pioneer in the underground scene, he was involved in tape trading, organizing concerts, and crafting his own brand of extreme metal. In 1988, he formed Cadaver, releasing the first Norwegian death metal album on Necrosis Records in 1990.

Cadaver shared the stage with bands like Darkthrone, Mayhem, and Old Funeral – groups that would later shape the early Norwegian black metal scene.

He later toured the world as a black metal musician with bands like Celtic Frost and others.

Guided Hikes

Experience Oslo’s winter wonderland on a guided hike high above the fjord, with spikes for safe walking in the snow. We meet at Clarion The Hub and take the Frognerseteren metro line up into the forest, enjoying the unfolding views of the city and Oslofjord. From Frognerseteren station we follow quiet winter trails past frozen ponds and up to the cosy Norwegian cabin Fuglemyrhytta, where your guide explains the role of such cabins in Norwegian outdoor life. The hike continues through snow-laden forest to the highlight of the trip: the summit of Vettakollen, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Oslo and the fjord. Here we take a break, enjoy the crisp winter air and a true moment of Norwegian “hygge” before heading back down to the metro and returning to Clarion The Hub.
